Hand-Pulled Noodles from Kanzhu

What I initially thought of as a Japanese restaurant that recently opened in Marcos Hi-way, in front of McDonald’s, was actually Chinese- Kanzhu’s Hand-Pulled Noodles! We tried it out while the branch is still fresh and new.

What I can say about the establishment is that it’s what you would usually expect in a typical Chinese family restaurant (King Bee, David’s Teahouse, Yang Chow, etc.), to some extent. To some extent, because it also has that pseudo-fastfood feel of the place. Not to mention it has a lesser variety of dishes and there are no private rooms nor big-enough tables for multiple family clans. Scratch that. I guess a more proper resto to compare it with would be Greenhills’ Le Ching’s- fast, belly-filling and affordable.

What those other Chinese restaurants don’t have, on the other hand, is their specialty signature hand-pulled noodles. After ordering, you’ll be presented with these foodie freebies first, with free refill:

Free Crispy Fish Skin

Free Soup

Free House Tea

After a couple of minutes, you’ll get your main dishes served to you fresh from the cookery! We ordered some Taosi Spareribs dimsum, Seafood Fried Noodles and Beef Tendon Noodle Soup. We made a mistake though. Yes, their noodles awesomely tingles the hell out of our tastebuds and the serving is just humongous, but what we ordered were all noodles! With soup and without- definitely not a good idea. Haha. Just one order of noodles is enough to two or three people, then rice, beef/pork/chicken/fish should come after.

Taosi Spareribs – 85 PHP

Seafood Fried Noodles – 160 PHP

Beef Tendon Noodle Soup – 160 PHP

I’ll definitely go back here to try their famous Dry Noodles next time. Also another plus: their kitchen is as transparent as can be so you can watch your food being prepared without having the need to worry whether the people preparing it or the kitchen itself are legally sanitary or not. Pretty awesome! If you’re far away from Marikina/Cainta, they also have branches in Timog and San Juan.
