McDonald’s McSpicy Sandwich

Taking a break from yesterday’s all-nighter where I had to do a 30-seconder AVP for a corporate client, I had the opportunity to finally try McDonald’s new McSpicy Sandwich via their 24/7 delivery service.

Being a fan of KFC’s Zinger Burger since my early graders, it really intrigued me how McDo’s version would fare to the original. To my surprise, I really couldn’t think of words to describe it except for “McDonald’s version of the Zinger.” It’s almost exactly like KFC’s Zinger, except that it tastes like McDo. I know I’m not making much sense here, but that’s how I felt on the first bite.

On a more detailed comparison, I remember being disappointed on the Zinger after awhile due to it being smaller and smaller as time passed by (or was it just be getting bigger and bigger? lol), and the spiciness faded along with it as well. Again, I don’t know if my tongue just got more adept in eating spicy food. If not, then alas, cost-cutting may have put the Zinger on its knees.

My take on the McSpicy Sandwich would be: it has a bigger chicken patty and is more generous on the lettuce. I find the sandwich lacking puffiness and thickness in the bread department, though. As for the spiciness? Not that spicy so it’s still quite edible for the non-fans of spicy food.

Paired up with fries and your regular Coke softdrink, it’s a belly-filling enough meal for the measly price of P115 (P80 if ala carte), compared to the Zinger’s meal price of P136 (P112 if ala carte.)

It certainly is news that McDonald’s has added a new menu choice- well, of course, since it usually takes ages for them to do that, unlike the always innovating Burger King and Jollibee. Not that I’m saying it’s a bad move for Mcdo, though. After all, some people want eternally unchanging things.

Overall, McDonald’s new McSpicy Sandwich isn’t something to be head-over-heels for, but it certainly amps up our fastfood dining experience a notch with this used-to-be Singaporean-only choice of sandwich.

Try it out and see for yourself!

Based on your photos, I agree with the bread lacking puffiness. Why is that? o.o

But hey even though it’s not to-die-for, I’d still want to try it myself. Haha.

Were you able to try it already? As far as I can remember, I’ve had a total of four this past couple of days haha. And the buns are really like that, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because it’s easier to eat that way? With the patty and buns put together it’s semi-mouthful already. :D
